Fall Festivals and Halloween Fun

The streets will be filled with a variety of costumes in the next few weeks as we enter the Halloween Season. Many area festivities are also fall related for those looking for more timid entertainment. (Photo by Julie Rae Rickard)

October is full of fun and scary events and here are a just a few scheduled for the next few weeks.

Oct. 13 Night of the Undead Ultimate Tasting at The Winery at Wilcox. 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. “Come dressed in your best zombie attire and enjoy a night filled with a tasting of our current selection of wines.” The cost is $20 plus tax. You can RSVP by calling 814-375-6885.

Oct. 14 Fall Festival in Downtown Clearfield from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. featuring vendors, crafters, entertainment, as well as an antique car, truck and motorcycle show. There is also a 5K Pumpkin Run.

Oct. 14 Parker Dam’s Annual Fall Festival “Come celebrate the traditions of autumn. The main festival runs all afternoon with opportunities to learn heritage skills, watch folks practice their crafts, and experience activities that may not be as common as they once were. There will be a costume parade at the end of the afternoon, with a trunk-or-treat to follow. For more event details and exact times, please pick up a festival flyer at the Park Office or contact the park at (814) 765-0630.”

Oct. 14 Spooky Tales at Irvin Manor, Curwensville from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $10 and you can sign up on their Facebook page.

Oct. 21 Trunk or Treat at Clearfield County Fairgrounds (sponsored by Visit Clearfield County) Local businesses and families are encouraged to register to set up their trunk. Prizes will be given in both the family and business category. You must pre-register by Oct. 12 with your theme. For more info call, 814-765-5734.

Oct. 21 Fall Family Fun Festival at Irvin Park in Curwensville, 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. sponsored by the Curwensville Regional Development Corporation. They will have vendors, food trucks, carnival games, crafts, face painting and free costume contest.

Oct. 21 Harvest Fest at Hyde Wesleyan Church in Hyde from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. They will have food, games, candy, prizes, a costume contest and more!

Oct. 21 Halloween Party at Angel Walk Winery, Allport 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There will be prizes for best couple, best group, best scary costume, funniest costume and best overall costume. Music by DJ Blackcat Sound.

Oct. 24 Halloween Parade Clearfield at the Driving Park with the theme of “cartoons” Staging is at 6:00 p.m. with the parade starting at 7:00 p.m.

Oct. 25 Trunk Or Treat event at the Curwensville Elementary School from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This event is for all Curwensville students. Local businesses with their decorated trunks will be bringing lots of free treats and Title 1 giving out free books to students. There will be several food and drink options for purchase including hot dogs, popcorn, pizzas, and breadsticks. “We will also have three new venders joining us for the fun! Each vendor will have their own items for purchase.”

Oct. 26 Open house and Trick or Treat Night at Clearfield County Career & Technology Center in Clearfield from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. You can vote for best pumpkin and there will be food trucks, refreshments and a live remote broadcast with Bigfoot Radio.

Oct. 27 Halloween Howl, Downtown Clearfield at the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce, 218 South 2nd St. from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. “Join us for a spooktacular evening of Halloween fun on the streets of beautiful downtown Clearfield. Get ready to put on your scariest costumes, and visit our local businesses for an unforgettable evening of wine, friends, and fun. Whether you’re a vampire, witch, ghost, or zombie, the Halloween Howl is the place to be Friday October 27. Gather your friends and family, and come join us for a frightfully good time! This wine tour is for those over 21 only. Tickets are available from the Chamber of Commerce.

Oct. 28 Trunk-or-Treat at Fresh Beginning, 8904 Clearfield Curwensville Highway (Old Target Square lot) in Clearfield from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free admission with prizes for best “Creepy Creative”, “Too Cute to Spook” and “Creeping it Classy”. Trunkers should bring Halloween candy to share with trick-or-treaters. Attendants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank. To register, call 814-205-4077.
