CLEARFIELD – The summer seems to by flying by, and the fact that the Clearfield County Fair is a few weeks early this year, is not helping that feeling.
The popular annual fair which begins on Friday, July 12 will also be longer, lasting until July 20.
Last year Greg Hallstrom, Fair Manager, announced that the change was made to accommodate the new carnival, Powers & Thomas Midway Entertainment.
This company will provide rides, games and concession stands including “some of the most advanced rides from Italy, the Czech Republic, and the United States,” according to information on their website.
These two families, Powers and Thomas, are the fourth and fifth generations running this business based in North Carolina. For more information on the rides coming to the fair, go to powersthomas.com.
The fair entrance fee is $5 but does not include the carnival rides. In order to ride, you need to purchase a $35 wristband.
Traditionally, admission to the fair is free on the Sunday prior to the actual start of the fair. This year, admission will be free on Friday, July 12 which is being billed as “Preview Day”. Please note that the midway does not open until 4:00 p.m. but on Saturday, July 13, the midway opens at 1:00 p.m.
Some things about the fair have not changed. It will still feature exhibits of local art, photographs, craft items, baked goods and more along with all your favorite farm animals competing through the Future Farmers of America and 4-H organizations.
The popular fair parade and fireworks will be on Monday, July 15.
On Kids Day, Tuesday, July 16, admission is free until 1:00 p.m. In addition, a discounted ride band will be only $20 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Both Tuesday, July 16 and Thursday, July 18 are senior citizen days with free admission from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for those over 65-years-old with proof of age. Friday, July 19 is Military Day with free admittance with proof of service from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
