More than $105,000 in scholarships are being awarded this year to area students through the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation. The student recipients will be attending colleges and trade schools in the fall.

According to Mark McCracken, executive director of the foundation, individuals, families and community organizations have established scholarship funds with the foundation, which has allowed the foundation to provide significant financial assistance to local students who want to continue their education and pursue careers that will benefit society.

Over the last five years, the total dollar amount of scholarships awarded has grown from just over $40,000 in 2020 to more than $105,400 this year, he said.

“Many of the scholarship funds established with the charitable foundation are done by families in memory of a beloved family member and it helps carry on a legacy of the person lost,” he said. “The community and scholarship recipients can be thankful for the generosity of the individuals, families and organizations that established the scholarship funds and the donors who continue to regularly donate in support of each individual scholarship fund.”
