PennDOT District 2 showcases colorful plow blades
Clearfield Area High School
Annual event encourages students to get creative
PennDOT’s Paint the Plow program in District 2, which includes Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elks, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin and Potter counties, netted a total of six snowplows creatively painted by high school students.
Paint the Plow is a statewide initiative that highlights safe winter driving while showcasing the artistic talents of students across Pennsylvania. This year’s theme, “Don’t race. Allow some space,” encourages drivers to keep a safe distance from plows and other vehicles during winter weather conditions.
Earlier this year, students put their creativity to work, transforming PennDOT plow blades. The public then voted for their favorite design through PennDOT’s website.
Voting closed on Dec. 14 and the plow with the most votes in each district will earn the title of “Fan Favorite.” PennDOT staff will also select a “Judges Pick” based on creativity, theme execution and overall appearance.
Winners will be announced later in December.
The plows designed in District 2 come from Bellefonte Area High School, Central Mountain High School, Clearfield Area High School, Moshannon Valley Junior-Senior High School, Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, Walnut Street Christian School and West Branch Area High School.
The colorful plow blades will be seen on District 2 trucks during the winter season.
